Have you been hearing a lot more people complaining lately about: “I don’t know why, but I seem to be getting every bug this past year and I just can't kick it!" OR "I'm much more tired than usual recently" OR "I'm so much stiffer or injured a lot more often this past year.”
What has changed?
Well, basically we have had an increase of every type of stress imaginable. A FEW very basic examples include:
Physical stress:
Working from home on make shift set-ups
Lack of exercise
Sitting for longer periods without moving
Chemical stress:
Increase in medication
New immune system altering medication
Lack of oxygen and inhaling whatever was on/in our masks daily
Change in diet with lifestyle changes
Decreased Vitamin D due to less time outside
Mental/emotional stress:
Worry for our HEALth
Worry about our families HEALth
Unable to visit family/friends
Job insecurity and financial stress
Fear of the unknown
Our bodies’ ability to adapt to stress is controlled and coordinated via our nervous system. Our brain regulates all of our body functions, including how we perceive stress and what the appropriate immune/stress response is at the time. The only way our brain can communicate with the rest of our body is through our spinal cord and spinal nerves. Disruption to this communication pathway may lead to poor coordination of these responses and ultimately dysfunction and dis-ease. Increase in stress to the body means our body has more to handle and less energy to focus on the minor little niggles.
As our bodies have been broken down from the OUTSIDE - IN over the past 2 years, it is time for it to HEAL a rebuild from the INSIDE - OUT.
Seeing a specific chiropractor who will find where there is pressure on your nervous system may be the missing link to function at a more optimal state again.
At Caley Chiropractic, we use the Gonstead system of Chiropractic which you can read more about here.
As our kids go back to school and we ramp up to the busy end of the year, let’s go in with the best version of ourselves possible.
Enjoy spring you wonderful people.
Hugs,
