Sciatica relief

WHAT WE HELP WITH

Whilst symptoms may be the reason you initially seek care, our focus is always on identifying and correcting the underlying cause within the spine and nervous system, not just the symptom itself.

Notice the title of this page is “What We Help With”. Not what we treat, not conditions we cure, and not diseases we fix.

The best chiropractor in Cape Town, the best chiropractor in South Africa, in fact the best chiropractor in the world, does not treat or cure anything.

This may come as a surprise, or even feel disappointing, but read on.

  • Restless leg syndrome

The list is extensive. More importantly, I could choose any single symptom on that list and find patients in our practice who have experienced complete relief and resolution of that particular symptom.

WHY THIS HAPPENS

The mental impulse from the brain has one job, to allow the body to adapt. That is it.

For example, pain in your neck may be caused by a tight and inflamed muscle. That muscle may be tight and inflamed because it is constantly working to stabilise a joint that has previously been injured, or is being stressed daily by your activities.

That joint stress may cause swelling in the disc, which can partially affect the space where the nerve exits the spine. This is where it becomes important, because that nerve may not only supply those same stabilising muscles, but may also travel into your arm or influence other areas such as your chest or ears.

If we only treat the muscle, we may achieve temporary relief. But if the underlying cause is not addressed, the symptom will return, and the cascade of dysfunction below it may continue to worsen, leading to a decline in function and overall HEALth.

A DIFFERENT WAY TO LOOK AT SYMPTOMS

It is important to understand that pain is not a reliable indicator of dysfunction. Many people have significant spinal stress or nerve interference without any pain at all, while others experience pain without clear structural damage.

That is why our approach is based on objective analysis, including X-rays when clinically indicated, nervous system assessment, and precise Gonstead analysis, allowing for specific, individualised care.
