The two things that make Gonstead different

Patients ask me this all the time. What actually makes Gonstead different from other Chiropractic techniques?
It comes down to two things.
First, it’s all about the disc. The disc is the true weight bearing structure of your spine, not the joints at the back. Many techniques adjust by rotating the spine, which gets movement from those back joints. That’s useful for increasing range of motion or breaking up stiffness, but it doesn’t change what’s happening at the disc itself, and how your body bears weight.
Gonstead is different. We adjust with no rotation, moving the bone directly back onto the disc where it belongs. That’s the foundation. Get that right, and everything else the spine needs to do can happen properly.
Second, it’s specific.
Specific in how we find the problem. We don’t guess. Careful analysis tells us exactly which bone is out of position and in which direction.
Specific in how we correct it too. We adjust one bone, in one direction, and leave everything else alone. We’re not stirring up new areas each visit or adjusting broadly just to create movement. Every adjustment has a clear purpose, and that purpose doesn’t change from visit to visit unless the analysis tells us it should.
That’s it. Disc focused, and precise. Two simple ideas, but they change everything about how lasting the results are.
